Christine has been around horses since she could walk. Her
Aunt bought a farm, got a pony, and that was the beginning of Christine’s love
of horses. She was riding by herself by the age of 5 with a pony that was
not very cooperative. Christine so loved that pony she called George.
She didn't know they weren't supposed to buck and lay down.
By the age of 10, Christine was babysitting neighborhood kids to
pay for formal riding lessons. A kid that had learned the "hard
way" on the pony and not having money to go to shows, Chris was often the
rider that the trainers would put on the "questionable" lesson/sale
horses. Not easily frightened, this gave her a lot of practice riding and
handling difficult and green horses.
At the age of 20, Christine purchased her first horse, Sir
Lionheart. Together they discovered Eventing, a horse triathlon if you
are unfamiliar. Lion, as he is called, is a bit of a temperamental horse,
so each showing was not always successful, but an accomplishment none the less.
In 2003, The Coachman, A.K.A. Chase, was purchased for
Christine. Chase was an unbroken 4 year old and the hope was that he
would be a horse with a more amicable temperament than Lion. Chase has
been a true test for Chris, sometimes incredibly easy, and others... not so
much. As Christine broke and trained Chase, they pushed each other to do
more, as they are now at a place where they are both learning new things
together. Together, they have competed in Hunters, Jumpers, Eventing, and
Dressage.
All of this led Chris and her husband, Brian, to establish
Tipperary Farm in 2005. Chris’ passion has infected Brian with her love
of horses, more specifically, the beautiful and rare Cleveland Bay Horse.
Chase was their first Cleveland Bay Sporthorse (the lovely horse featured at
the top of this website). Tipperary Farm now owns 2 Cleveland Bay
Sporthorses (CB Crosses). They have owned two stallions, Frostyoak
Touchwood, and an imported, purebred Stallion, Pembridge Joshua.
They have bred quality Sporthorses and purebreds for all disciplines and
foxhunting.
Even if you're not interested in lessons, training, or owning a
horse, please feel free to contact us so that you can come see our lovely
horses, even if you just want to see a Cleveland Bay in the flesh. You
just may get hooked!
Christine is a successful trainer and rider. Her horses, the
horses she trains and her students regularly show with great success. Her style
is as varied as each rider throughout all levels of English Horsemanship. Chris
trains at our farm and she will travel to your facility as well.
